Our dreams are really great tools to use to gauge whether or not we are in alignment with our desires. Usually our dreams reflect our dominant thoughts throughout the day or information that we picked up on from our environment. Our subconscious mind is in control when we are sleeping and in this theta brain wave state, we are quite suggestible.
If we can lucid dream, that is, remain conscious within our dream to where we can control everything going on around us, that’s a really great way for us to program new beliefs that enable us to manifest. Having complete control over our dream environment is true lucidity – sometimes we can become lucid in a dream but we cannot manipulate the goings on around us. The dream is still happening to us rather than us becoming creators within it.
Just because we can lucid dream that our greatest desire came true, it doesn’t mean that we will wake up to that being true in our reality. However, if we are able to lucid dream and make all of our fantasies come true in the dream realm, an energetic shift can take place where we no longer feel that our dreams are impossible – because in one state of consciousness or another, we have already seen them come true. If we can carry the feeling we had in our lucid dream of our desires coming into fruition into our waking life, then we are well on our way to manifesting it. As Neville Goddard says in The Power of Awareness, “You must make your future dream a present fact. You do this by assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled…If this assumption is persisted in until it becomes your dominant feeling, the attainment of your ideal is inevitable.” This is the Law of Attraction at work.
Upon waking up, it is helpful to immediately try to recall your dream’s contents and how you felt within the dream. If you dreamt about something you really wanted – was it out of reach? If so, it could mean that subconsciously you don’t believe that your goals are attainable, or you don’t feel worthy of receiving it (you are!), and maybe you need to work through your limiting beliefs. Or maybe you had a great dream in which you attained the goal you have in mind – that’s great! That could mean that subconsciously you are in alignment with the life you want and you are ready to accept opportunities and abundance into your life. In short, paying attention to our dreams can be an amazing tool that we should all utilize in order to work through our subconscious programs and complete psychological tasks that we cannot during waking hours. I highly recommend the book “The Tibetan Yogas of Dreams and Sleep” by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche for greater insight into our dreams.
